It
is one of the most imposing forts in the Shekhawati
region, commanding a bird¿s eye view of
the town modelled to resemble the city plan of
Jaipur.
Laxmangarh town came into being in the year 1862.
it was planned nearly 200 years ago by Rao Raja
Laxman Singh of Sikar Thikana under shekawati
region of erstwhile Rajputana. The reigning kingdom
of jaipur had many thikanas and SHEKAWATI was
one of them . The name SHEKAWATI is derived from
shekawats a rajput clan of this region who were
the ruling class.The jagirdars of these thikanas
were called Rao Rajas and Laxman Singh happened
to be the Rao Raja of Sikar and founder of laxmangarh. |

Founded in the late 18th century by the Poddars,
the Shani Temple has delicately painted frescoes.
Marvellous cenotaphs of the Poddars have exquisitely
painted ceilings. The Ganga Temple and some beautiful
havelis add interest to the town. |

Shyamji Fair |

Khatu
Shyamji is famous for its Shyamji Temple. There
is a steady stream of devotees visiting the temple
round the year, but lakhs of them gather at the
annual fair from Phalgun Sudi Dashmi to Dwadashi.
the king had a dream and was inspired to construct
a temple and place the head in a religious manner.
Till this date his devotees are blessed by just
pronouncing his name from the bottom of their
heart with true Samarpan. The devotees from all
around the world visit this pilgrimage temple
at the time of the mela in the Kartik month. Their
devotion and belief simply pours from their conscious
belief. The temple today is run by trust and the
offerings of the devotees is for the Kripa which
the god bestows on his devotees. |
