Fatehpur Sikri is a great place near Agra. Mughal emperor Akbar visited Fatehpur Sikri to take blessings of Sufi Saint Salim Chisti for getting the throne. Once he got that, he visited their again and was duly blessed with three sons. After that, he shifted his capital to this place and constructed a new city under the guidance of this Salim Chisti. This place was also a good center as this was the place from which Akbar was able to control all parts of the country and that to without taking much pains. This new city was constructed on the top of the hilltop and thus it made it safe from any of attacks of the rivals as proper eye can be kept from all the sides. Hence, from the point of view of ruling, this city was considered to be the safest place. This is something which is said in general, there are many stories which are said about it and no one knows the actual history behind it.

When you make a visit to Fatehpur Sikri, you can initially visit Diwan-I-Aam. As son as you will enter from the Agra Gate, which is one of the nine gates of this palace; first thing which will be noticed by you is the Diwan-I-Aam. It is a hall of common audience. This is a rectangular courtyard which has four walls and it is the place where embassies are received and several entertainment programs are also held. Here various petitions as well as proclamations were also held. It also consists of a royal balcony which appears at the western front. The balcony has a frame made up of Jail screens. This place portrays the royal and classic Mughal era. 

Another place which you must go when you make a visit to Fatehpur Sikri is Diwan-I-Khas. It is the Royal Place behind Diwan-I-Aam. This is a wonderful structure which is magnificently created which portrays the Mughal architecture. At the center of the hall, you can find the stone column. This is a place where Emperor Akbar carried out his personal meetings and proceedings.

You must also make a visit to Panch Mahal. It is a five storeyed structure which stands to the west of the main courtyard. This is a beautifully designed Mahal which is divided into five parts for various purposes. One of this was constructed especially for the Queens of the Mahal which has a Pardah from which they can see the events going on the Palace.

How To Reach Fatehpur Sikri

Fatehpur Sikri is a place which was located near Agra and is just 40 km away from Agra.You can reach this place by airways; railways as well as you can also opt for the roadways.

You can go to the Kheria airport which is at Agra. After reaching there, you can go by a private car or the bus to Fatehpur Sikri which is just 40 km away from there.

If you are coming here by railway, you can go to Agra Cantt railway station which is at the equal distance from the Fatehpur Sikri.

If you are going by roadways, you can hire a bus to this place or if you want to enjoy the scenic beauty throughout the way and travel comfortably, then traveling by car is a best option which you can opt for.
