Mount Abu

Mount Abu is a diverse city which was a part of the Rajasthan kingdom which was once a resort for the Rajput kings of that particular region. Mount Abu belonged to Maharaja of Sirohi was then taken over by the British Government and used it as headquarters of Rajasthan. It was the most longed for summer destination especially of the Britishers which was mainly to get rid of the dust and the heat and experience the pleasant climate

It also served as a sanatorium for the troops. The small huts and cottages made by the British here tell the story of those times even today. Mount Abu was considered to be one of the moist sacred places of that time since it was visited by millions of Gods and goddesses. There were several saints who visited the mountain for various sacred reasons.

Other than temples Ghats is something people will always like to visit when they come to Pushkar. The reason behind this is that there are Ghats near the lake wherein prilgrims prefer bathing as they are of the opinion that the lake’s water is holy. In case you are also looking forward to have bath in this lake then there are some rules for bathing there like removing your shoes, do not smoke as well as photography is not allowed.

During the full moon day of Kartik Purnima in Pushkar there is a fair held wherein numerous devotees visit this fair. “The Puskar Fair” is normally help during October-November. The best part of this fair is Camel trading and many more activities. At this fair you will see many dances and colorful shops; along with this you will also get many tempting delicacies. Puppets shows at the fair hold on much of attention of the tourist at this fair.

Dilwara Jain Temple,Dilwara Jain Temples is one of the finest Jain temple known world over for its extraordinary architecture and marvelous marble stone carvings, some experts also consider it architecturally superior to the Taj Mahal. It seems fairly basic temple from outside but every cloud has a silver lining, the temple interior showcases the extraordinary work of human craftsmanship at its best. These temples were built between 11th to 13th century AD, The beautiful lush green hills surrounding the temple gives a very pleasant feeling.

Guru Shikhar, Mount Abu’s highest mountain peak, is located at an altitude of about 1,722 meters above sea level in Mount Abu. The adventurous trek can take the tourist to the top of the peak. One can get eye catching panoramic view of surrounding sylvan region. The cool climate and serene environments make the peak a much sought place for seclusion.

Museum and Art Gallery is situated at the Raj Bhawan, which has an exclusive collection of archeological excavations in between the 8th and the 12th century. It has many Jain bronze carvings and brasswork.

Gaumukh Temple has a natural spring which flows from a sculpted cow’s. The Yagnas performed were very famous and ‘yagna’. There is temple which is beautifully sculpted and is very famous and is a sight to see. How To Reach Mount Abu

You can get to Mount Abu by air, rail and road but the nearest airport is Udaipur which is approximately 185 km and the easiest way to get to the airport is by booking a cab

By train where the nearest station is Abu road which is approximately 29km which is linked to Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Delhi.

By road you can get to Abu from Udaipur, Ahmedabad and Jodhpur.
