The most popular place in Amritsar is the Golden Temple. This is a world famous tourist destination where lots of people come to Amritsar just to visit this temple. This is a huge temple which is constructed on a huge marble of 67 sq ft. it is a two storey Mandir which was built with about 400 kilos of gold. There are many small temples surrounding the Golden Temple. There is also a small pool which is constructed by Guru Ram Das who is the fourth Guru of the Sikhs. This is the place where Saint Valmiki inscribed Ramayana. There are many consecrated areas in the Golden Temple itself. Some of them are Har Ki Pauri, Thara Sahib, The Akal Takht, Dukh Bhanjani Ber which is also known as Jujube Tree. Apart from this you also have Ath Sath Tirath Ber Baba Budha Ji and lot more. All these places are considered to be very sacred and holy for the Sikhs.
Apart from the Golden Temple, another place which you can visit is the Durgiana Temple which is also well known as the Lakshmi Narain Temple. This temple was constructed somewhere in 1930 and you can hear our echoes in this place. It is constructed on the similar grounds of the Golden temple and the design is very similar to it.
Apart from this you can also have a tour to the Wagah Border which is very near from Amritsar. The Jallianwala Baug is also a historical palce where you can go. Who do not know about the Jallianwala Baug incident? This is place where thousands of Indians by the shoot out by Michel Dyer. There is also a historical banyan tree in Amritsar which stands a great importance in the life of the people over there.

The Rajasansi Airport which is just about 10 kilometers away from the main city is the best place to land there by air. There are domestic flights to Amritsar from Delhi, Chandigarh and also Srinagar. After getting there you can hire a cab or an auto.
